Tried out this popular recipe that many bloggers tried. It's really good. I expected it to taste like steamed huat kueh but it doesn't. It's more like a moist and tender cake!

Bamboo Charcoal Panda
Sis brought back this charcoal black (yes..it's really really black!) from Johor Bahru. I wonder why the local bakeries don't carry this bread
The reason for its colour is ... Bamboo Charcoal! See the ingredients listed on the packaging
I was a bit hesitant to consume charcoal, but the bread is surprisingly good! Soft and a bit sweet, not unlike the traditional white bread we can get from kopitiam. Apparently there are quite a few uses for bamboo charcoal. http://www.ehow.com/how_2145666_use-bamboo-charcoal.html
The really black colour of the bread reminded me of the panda bentos I previously saw on shopping mom's blog. The steps for creating this bento can be found on her blog. So here's the bento!
